Some may find this hard to believe, but yes, I'm an absolute sucker for Valentine's Day. However, it's not the cheap stuffed animals or the overpriced diamonds that I enjoy. It's the color red, combined with filigreed laces and sheer tulle. Also the flowers are a wonderful touch! I never considered myself a "girlie girl" as I hated wearing dresses growing up; however, I enjoyed seeing them in works of art. Especially the long flowing gowns in John William Waterhouse's paintings. To me, this is romance. Not the significant other buying things for their love. It’s the art—the gorgeous creations and blend of burgundies, roses, pinks, and colorations that pull my attention. The delicateness of beauty is like the delicateness of lace—it can be torn quickly as each viewer has their own interpretation of what is beautiful. The artist creates their images with love—a romantic love as there is an intimate connection and spiritual experience in the process of creation.
